About The Team

The Organization:

Our not for profit client ensures that children and families have the resources they need to start healthy, stay healthy, and succeed in school. They work with home-based family support and educational programs for families from pregnancy through kindergarten, as well as health insurance and SNAP benefits enrollment support for individuals and families, and child advocacy services for families involved in the child welfare system. They serve the people of Chester County.

 

Summary:

The Finance Director provides strategic, financial, and operational leadership to ensure the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of our Not for Profit client. The Finance Director is primarily responsible for financial forecasts, compliance, internal controls, and overall operational efficiency. The Finance Director will report to and work closely with the Executive Director to provide high-level oversight of this not for profit's programs and initiatives. This role requires a dynamic and ethical leader with strong communication, leadership and team-based collaboration skills.  Compensation Target: $95,000/yr.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

Financial Oversight and Strategy

  • Lead the development and implementation of financial policies, strategies, and internal controls to maintain the organization’s financial health and integrity.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget in collaboration with program team.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to the Board and Finance Committee.
  • Supervise all accounting, reporting, and audit processes, including the annual audit and IRS Form 990.
  • Responsible for Finance functions, including but not limited to, Finance Management, Strategic Financial Planning, Grant Management, Operating and Capital Budgets, Accounting and Financial Reporting, Cash Management, Payroll, and Procurement.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and program managers to develop a strategic plan and to manage those short and long term objectives.
  • Analyze program costs and organizational expenditures to ensure efficient resource use.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, grant requirements, and nonprofit reporting standards.
  • Monitor the financial impact of fundraising efforts and recommend improvements.
  • Safeguard organizational assets against fraud and misuse.
  • Lead point of contact for external auditors.
  • Protect the confidentiality of all information regarding current and past program participants as well as organizational operations.
  • Perform payroll function interfacing with ADP and maintain associated payroll and payroll tax records. Coordinate Unemployment Claim activity in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director maintain appropriate and complete personnel systems and records.
  • Liaison with 401K Administrator and coordinate staff relationships and communication. Maintain 401k information and provide timely information to Plan Administrator and employees.

 

Operations and Risk Management

  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations and vendor contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, employment laws, and safety protocols.
  • Lead ongoing improvement of internal systems, policies, and workflows.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, provide new hires with necessary information, policies, forms, etc. and assure accurate and timely recording of their information for payroll and benefits recording.

 

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to Executive Director in support of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide direct supervision of Finance Department staff.
  • Support program managers in evaluating budget outcomes, aligning services with community needs, and maintaining high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with staff on data collection and impact reporting, including the annual report.
  • Participate in team events and organizational-wide staff meetings and training programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required. Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, etc.) or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of relevant experience; familiarity with nonprofit accounting and public funds and grants management a major plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Related Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain: a valid driver’s license; automobile insurance with liability coverage of $100,000-$300,000; and daily access to an automobile and a cell phone.
  • Has no criminal or child abuse history as determined by a criminal history and child abuse screening.
  • Only local candidates will be considered
